Baggu Reusable Shopping Bags

Plastic bags take over 1000 years to decompose, and they don’t biodegrade. They photodegrade, which means they break down into tiny toxic pieces. Not cool.

The Baggu bag is an alternative to plastic bags. Just fold them up, keep them in your pocket, and hand them over at the cashier. A lot of people have reusable bags already (especially in SF where they are banned), so don’t worry about looking funny. These bags actually look normal–and you can screenprint on them.

Armor For Sleep - Smile for Them

A few weeks ago New Jersey’s Armor for Sleep released their 3rd album titled Smile for Them. This album revolves around what seems to be people being fake and not being true to themselves. It is a very strong 3rd release and each song has a unique quality to it. Any existing Armor for Sleep fan needs this CD in their collection, and any new fan needs to listen and check them out along with their previous releases. Mac OSX Leopard

The wait is over! Mac OSX 10.5 is here. I’ve been using it since Friday afternoon, and it’s pretty sweet. The main features are Stacks, Spaces, iChat upgrades, and “Time Machine.” Spaces is my favorite. It allows you to have up to four different workspaces. So, if you’re a multi-tasker like me, it’s awesome. You can be editing something in Photoshop, reading blogs in Firefox, playing a podcast in iTunes, and writing a document in NeoOffice, and you’re able to switch between all of the applications with ease (no more minimizing and maximizing).

I’m kicking myself a little bit right now, because you can buy Leopard for only $109.00 on Amazon. It’s the cheapest price I can find.

The New Kings of Nonfiction by Ira Glass

The days are getting shorter and it’s getting pretty chilly (or at least, here in New England), so make sure to squeeze in some final natural light reading time. The New Kings of Nonfiction is a collection of stories pieced together by This American Life radio personality Ira Glass. Our favorite author in the book is Chuck Klosterman.

At $10, this book is a steal. If you’re lucky enough to be able to catch Ira Glass in person, then expect to pay $15 for it (but the extra money goes to charity).

Four Year Strong

It’s been about two years since the pop punk quintet from Worcester Massachusetts’ Four Year Strong released their five-song demo, and now it’s time for their full length album. Rise or Die Trying that hits stores September 18th.

From seeing the band three times this summer I’ve heard most if not the whole album live and they always put on an energetic show that gets everyone going crazy. They combine fast tempo, catchy hooks and hardcore type break downs that increase the intensity of a mosh pit.
